<sample>The copper, nickel and zinc salts were prepared by dissolving the carbonate in 90% formic acid. The copper and nickel salts were recrystallized from water and then dehydrated by heating the copper salt at 353 K and the nickel salt at 413 K. Nothing is stated about the purity of any of the salts. The formic acid was prepared by treating a c.p. product with B2O3 and then distilling <i>in vacuo</i> until a product melting above 281.6 K was obtained.</sample>
