The upper critical solution temperature has been reported as 323.2 K (Francis1) and 325.8 K (Hwa et al.2). The critical solution concentration is determined as xcl = 0.63 ±0.01 by the evaluator on the basis of the solubility curve of binary system.2
The experimental data reported in Hwa et al.2 have been approximated (with the same weighing factor) by an equation based on the scaling law (described in the preface to this volume) for which the following parameters were derived:
a1 = 0.79747, a2 = 0.15937, b1 = 1.22859, b2 = -1.55933 (mean standard error of estimate was 0.0430).
For this approximation values xcl and UCST from Hwa et al.2 were used. In the opinion of the evaluator, all experimental solubility data and the smoothed mutual solubility, calculated by this equation, may be treated as tentative. The results of calculations for selected temperatures are presented in Table. This relationship together with experimental points2 are also presented in Fig. 9.
