4. Three-Component Systems

4.1. MCHO2-M1CHO2-H2O systems

All the systems to be considered in this section consist of two uni-positive metal formates and water. Six such systems have been studied, but there is only one report for five of these systems.1-5 The solubility values contained in those reports are presented on the following pages without any attempt at a critical evaluation of the data because there are no other published experimentally-obtained solubility values.
There are two reports dealing with the LiCHO2-KCHO2-H2O system.6,7 One of these papers7 contains solubility values obtained at 25 and 100°C, while the other6 contains solubility values obtained at 50°C plus a few values at about ten temperatures in the 25 to 273°C range. Of the values in this 25 to 273°C solubility range comparison with other values could be made only at 25, 50 and 100°C. There was fairly good agreement between the various values, but only a few data points could be compared at each temperature. Therefore, the published solubility values for this system cannot be critically evaluated.
